Derek began his photography journey when he was a little boy in Colombia, making pictures of scenery and street scenes and selling them to friends and family.

 

His family moved to Miami in 1973 where he continued photography on a part-time basis as a freelanace photojournalist and travel photographer for community newspapers as well as making headshots and lifestyle images for models while attending high-school and University. In the early 2000's he saw the potential and freedom that Stock and Fine Art photography offered and decided to pursue it as a career.

 

His images are used by multinational corporations for large-budget advertising campaigns as well as small mom n' pop businesses. If you have ever stepped foot outside of your house you have most likely seen his images on buses, billboards, TV, mailers, newspapaers, book covers, etc.

 

In addition to being a photographer, he is also an actor having appeared in many TV shows and hundreds of national commercials.

 

He lives in Miami Beach with his lovely wife and six year old daughter.
